Jemsi Keneth Mwabenga is a Tanzanian conservationist, ecosystem researcher, wildlife management specialist, and Project Manager at Tanzania Green Revive (TGR), where he contributes to the planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and development of environmental conservation and ecosystem restoration initiatives.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Management from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Ecosystem Science and Management as a Postgraduate Scholar with the Tanzania Research and Conservation Organization (TRCO).
Jemsi recently completed an Erasmus+ Worldwide semester exchange in Germany at the University of Bonn and the United Nations University, focusing on Environmental Risk and Human Security. This international academic exposure has strengthened his understanding of environmental risks, ecosystem resilience, human security, and the importance of integrated approaches to sustainable development.
Supported by a research fellowship from the Grumeti Fund through the RISE Program, Jemsi’s MSc research evaluates species composition and structural dynamics in the Western Serengeti, generating scientific evidence relevant to human-wildlife conflict mitigation, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem management, and protected-area management.
His field experience spans major Tanzanian ecosystems. He has served as a Research Assistant with OIKOS East Africa in the Kilimanjaro ecosystem and participated in international field microprojects in collaboration with the University of Antwerp, working across the Udzungwa, Ruaha, and Saadani landscapes.
Jemsi combines field-based conservation experience with technical expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), QGIS, and statistical data analysis using R. These skills support ecological assessment, conservation mapping, environmental monitoring, research, spatial analysis, and evidence-based decision-making.
He also has experience in community outreach, environmental awareness, sustainable agroforestry, and community-based conservation through his engagement with the DreamNature Organization.
